Writers back BBC initiative to boost kids reading skills
A quarter in Norfolk fails to meet the normal yardstick of reading when they finish primary education, as stated by the Office for National Statistics.
Page Turners started on BBC Radio Norfolk on Monday, occurring at the same time with the official launching of a fresh library in Great Yarmouth.
Writer and TV host Ben Garrod stated about reading that it "should be inspiring" and actor Stephen Fry said that "reading is just the most exciting thing in the world".
A host of many BBC wilderness show, Prof lecturer Garrod of the University of East Anglia, has additionally authored books directed to children.
He clarified that "we, in so many ways, see reading as a chore; it's something you have to do for homework and all these things," and added that "it should be fun, it should be engaging, it should be inspiring."
