(MENAFN) Former United States Leader Joe Biden has been found to have an "aggressive form" of prostate cancer, which has already extended to his bones, as revealed in a statement issued on Sunday by his personal office, and reported by several outlets.
According to the statement, "last week, President Joe Biden was seen for a new finding of a prostate nodule after experiencing increasing urinary symptoms."
Following further evaluation, the illness was officially diagnosed on Friday and described as having a “Gleason score of 9” along with “metastasis to the bone,” indicating both severity and spread.
Biden’s office acknowledged that "while this represents a more aggressive form of the disease, the cancer appears to be hormone-sensitive, which allows for effective management."
This suggests that despite its advanced stage, there are promising options for managing the illness due to its responsiveness to hormone-based therapies.
At 82 years old, the former president is currently working with his healthcare providers and family to explore appropriate treatment strategies.
Discussions are ongoing to determine the most suitable course of action in light of the diagnosis.
In response to the announcement, U.S. President Donald Trump addressed the matter on his Truth Social platform.
He stated, “Melania and I are saddened to hear about Joe Biden’s recent medical diagnosis,” adding, “We extend our warmest and best wishes to (his wife) Jill and the family, and we wish Joe a fast and successful recovery.”
