Putin, Trump negotiates on phone on Monday
(MENAFN) After a conversation on the phone among Vladimir Putin and Donald Trump, Russia's presidential aide Yury Ushakov said on Monday. The Russian as well as the US Leaders did not talk about a time limit or a duration to agree on a truce pact in Ukraine.
He informed journalists in Sochi “no, we did not discuss this, although Trump naturally emphasized his interest in swiftly reaching some sort of agreement.”
Previously, Trump stated that his phone call between Putin and him "went very well" and that Russia and Ukraine will "immediately" begin discussions to agree on a truce pact as well as end the conflict which has been going on for longer than 3 years.
At the same time, Putin referred to the conversation as "frank and substantive," also stating that a ceasefire with Ukraine is likely after similar pact are achieved.
Ushakov also revealed that US and Russia are getting ready for another conversation of hostage’s release, with 9 people anticipated to be given back from both sides.
He stated that "Exchanges of imprisoned citizens of the two countries were mentioned. The presidents noted that another such exchange, nine persons from each side, is currently being arranged."
