UK Summons Iranian Envoy After Spy Charges
A spokesperson for the Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office stated, "Today, upon instruction from the Foreign Secretary, the Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran to the United Kingdom was summoned to the Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office.
His Excellency Seyed Ali Mousavi was summoned in response to three Iranian nationals charged under the National Security Act."
The official emphasized that the British administration remains firm in its commitment to safeguarding the country’s safety and security, asserting that Iran "must be held accountable for its actions."
Over the weekend, the three Iranian suspects were formally accused of behavior that may support a foreign intelligence organization.
The individuals—Mostafa Sepahvand, aged 39, Farhad Javadi Manesh, aged 44, and Shapoor Qalehali Khani Noori, aged 55—reside in London and appeared before a judge on Saturday.
All three had been allowed to temporarily stay in the United Kingdom after entering the country as unauthorized migrants between the years 2016 and 2022.
