Trump Threatens with ‘maximum pressure’ on Russia
(MENAFN) United States Leader Donald Trump is ready to exert “maximum pressure” on Russia should negotiations aimed at achieving peace in Ukraine fail, according to remarks from State Department spokesperson Tammy Bruce during a segment with a news agency.
Bruce explained that Trump’s patience has “worn thin,” emphasizing that his recent posts on Truth Social reflect growing agitation over the conflict's lack of resolution.
In his latest comments, Trump labeled Russian Leader Vladimir Putin as having gone “crazy” in response to Moscow's wave of retaliatory attacks within Ukraine.
He warned that Putin is “playing with fire,” expressing concern over the Russian leader’s actions.
In response, Russian officials hinted that Trump might be misinformed about widespread Ukrainian offensives that have caused harm to Russian civilians.
Over the past several days, Russia’s Defense Ministry has claimed that its forces intercepted over 2,300 Ukrainian drones aimed at various cities across the country, including a significant number directed toward Moscow.
These figures point to a sharp escalation in drone warfare between the two nations.
Bruce added that Trump is considering deploying every available measure, including heightened sanctions against Russia.
These potential penalties are included in a proposed bill led by Republican Senator Lindsey Graham, a long-time critic of the Kremlin.
The legislation proposes sanctions of up to 500 percent on any nations continuing to import Russian energy resources and other products.
