Jordan to broaden its budget flights network to EU to revitalize tourism
Hungarian airline Wizz Air is scheduled to restart its Budapest–Amman service on August 26, offering twice-weekly flights throughout the year. The move marks the steady return of low-cost carriers to Jordan.
Tourism and Antiquities Minister Makram Al-Qaisi stated that the 2025/26 winter season will include the most extensive low-cost flight network the kingdom has ever hosted, linking Jordan to 18 European cities through airlines such as Ryanair, Wizz Air, and Eurowings.
He added that four additional routes are planned to Aqaba, Jordan’s Red Sea port city, connecting it with Katowice and Warsaw in Poland, Bucharest in Romania, and Sofia in Bulgaria. These services aim to strengthen Aqaba’s reputation as both a seaside and winter tourism hub.
Jordan Tourism Board Director General Abdul Razzaq Arabiyat noted that winter operations will begin ramping up from September 16 and continue until March 2026, with potential extensions into the summer. He explained that the relaunch of affordable flights is part of broader tourism campaigns designed to draw visitors to key attractions, including Petra, Wadi Rum, the Dead Sea, and Aqaba.
