Sharaa to make historic first official visit to White House
(MENAFN) Syrian President Ahmad al-Sharaa will make his first-ever official visit to the White House in early November, marking a historic milestone in relations between Damascus and Washington, Foreign Minister Asaad al-Shaibani announced Sunday.
“President Ahmad al-Sharaa will be at the White House at the start of November,” Shaibani said during a speech in Bahrain, calling it “a historic visit — the first by a Syrian president to the White House in over 80 years.”
U.S. Special Envoy Tom Barrack, who also serves as ambassador to Türkiye, told a news agency the visit is scheduled for Nov. 10, in what both sides hope will open a “new chapter” in bilateral ties.
